About Gunsmoke Retreivers
Gunsmoke Retrievers are bred for health, versatility and most importantly, temperament.
Situated on a 50 acre farm our dogs are born and raised in the heart of farm and hunting country which allows them the freedom to explore and hone in on their natural hunting abilities.
Owner Caitlyn DeForest was introduced to flat coated retrievers by her training and breeding mentor Pat Robertson (Duenorth Kennels). Caitlyn immediately fell in love with flat-coated retriever and developed a natural passion to preserve and protect this wonderful breed.
Flat-coated retrievers are an intelligent breed with a strong desire to work. Our dogs are trained in multi competitive sports as well as hunting, blood tracking and waterfowl retrieval, a tribute to the true versatility of this breed.
The main goal of our breeding program is to improve the health and longevity of flat-coated retrievers. All our dogs have the following health testing done prior to entering our breeding program: OFA hips, elbows & patellas, OFA cardiac, CERF and gonioscopy.
We are proud members of the CKC, Flat Coated Retriever Society of Canada and Peterborough County Noz-It Club.

All Gunsmoke Retreivers are trained at the Ontario Canine Wellness Centre, a full service training Facility based at my Kennel just outside Warsaw, ON.
